Venice and the Island of Burano

Words cannot describe Venice.  The city is 118 islands and covers a huge expanse of land and water--I believe 400 square miles.  It's almost impossible to find your way around here unless you have some very good landmarks and a map.  The little streets just wind everywhere.  We've been on water taxis and boats a number of times in the past two days, but I don't have a good sense of the layout of everything.
This afternoon we went to the Island of Burano, which is a village of its own.  The houses are all brightly coloured and it's a very quiet village compared to the city of Venice.  This village is very famous for its hand made linens with embroidery and hand made lace.  We did break down and buy a tablecloth here.
We have loved every minute of our time here.  The pictures do a better job of showing this magical place, so here they are.

  3. Thanks, Jeanette. I haven't figured out how to write, then add pictures, then write and then add more pictures all in the same post. I'd like to be able to write a comment about individual pictures, but I can't seem to make it work. Also can't figure out how to delete a picture once I've put it on before publishing. So definitely a few glitches, but it is what it is! Have a good week coming up!
